Marathon Training Blog, Week 16

Welcome to week 16 of our Marathon Training Blog series! Click here to read week 1!

Week 16:

Week 16

Monday: 3 mi EZ–if you read last week’s blog, you’ll know it was an eventful one. We opted to skip this Monday EZ run to give my husband an extra day of rest.

Tuesday: 5 miles in 54m, 08s with an average of 10:50 min/mi. We ran at the gym and it was hot and we watched shows on our phones :).

Wednesday: Rest. Except, I didn’t notice that on the plan so I still cross trained and then saw it at the end of the night :). Bonus points for me!

Thursday: 6 miles in 1:03:53 with an average 10:39 min/mi. I turned on the jets last week and was pretty proud of that time for 6 miles!

Friday: CT or Rest. Rest.

Long Run Saturday–12 miles in 2:29:45 with an average of 12:29 min/mi. We opted to run 12 loops in our neighborhood that day to stay close to the house because of the events of the week before and rain and storms looming in the area. It was a perfect plan. We had great conversation and the route had very little elevation (only 359 feet! That’s not bad for our crazy hilly area). We really needed a good run that day so we were beyond thankful.

Sunday: 3 mi EZ. We just don’t even try anymore. I am active on Sundays, walking at least 3 miles doing various things, but I just don’t try to get that run in. Creates too much stress in our weekend!

So, the final assessment of week 16:

Week 16 final

95%… Took 10 off for the two EZ runs that were skipped, but gave 5 bonus points for accidentally cross training on Wednesday :).

20 miles coming up this Saturday morning. PLEASE keep us in your prayers! We have an amazing support system helping us out that day and we’re so thankful for them!
