Monday: Rest–love it.
Tuesday: 4 miles in 42m, 54s with an average of 10:44 min/mile. It was nice to back off to 4 miles on a Tuesday and get some speed. Lately I’ve enjoyed running at the gym by watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls :).
Wednesday: Crosstrain. I was nervous about our 16 miler so I made sure to hit the crosstrain super hard. I did as many lunges, squats, and sit ups as I could throughout the day!
Thursday: 5 miles in 55 m, 39s with an average 11:08 min/mi. More gym, more gilmore girls.
Friday: CT or Rest. Rest.
Long Run Saturday–16 miles in 3:22:19 with an average of 12:39 min/mi. Another milestone. We left out at 5am. It was completely dark for the first 7 miles before the sun started to peek over the hills. Our friend met us at mile 8 with fresh water and ran with us 4 miles. In our minds we tried to break up the run into 4-4 mile sections and that helped a ton! Kept us mentally in the game and kept us from burn out. And we didn’t collapse when we got home! We cooked breakfast and got ready for the day and got stuff done! I was so proud of us!
Sunday: 3 mi EZ. Nope. We went shopping if that counts.
So, the final assessment of week 13:
95% A! I was pretty proud of this week! I needed the 16 miles to prove to myself that I was ready to begin stretching my legs and adding on more mileage.
As I’m writing this we’re at the end of week 14 and this week has not gone as well. . . stay tuned.
